BLACK AND WHITE ILLUSTRATIONS IN 2023
These five pages are drawn in comic book style with vector brushes of mapping pen on Adobe Fresco, having spent nearly one week on each page.
1 < DRAGON FORCER >
With the keen angle, the hero stands tall like sacred towers in the background. And the dragon, an invincible guardian in the story world, adds stability in lower part of the illustration.
< PROCESS >
There are four levels of distances in the illustration. The left hand of the dragon is in the closest area. The next is the dragon's face. And the hero's right arm on the dragon's neck connects view of audience to the hero's face. The leading of view is repeated by the steps connected to the background.
2 < ART STUDENT >
The heroine's face is focused on by different texture of the curly hair. The feather dusters and the sword like art tools hint an angel, which is the main concept of this character design.
< process >
The cloth design wasn't decided at first because I made effort too much on the curly hair. Then, I have lost the unity. The time lapse video shows the process. But this angel like hair helped me to image the cloth design in the end.
3 < LITTLE DRYAD >
Dryad, a spirit of tree, has a flower basket crocheted with ivies. The character design is from the image and looks general. But the drawing period was very long because natural materials usually requires trial and errors a lot.
< process >
After finished drawing the character's head, next is the second focus of the ivy basket. Since the basket is imaginal, a lot of strokes of trial and error had to be added. As a result, the second focus looks strong in the drawing so that the simple concept is fitted to the obedient effort.
4 < FESTIVAL >
A flower festival is imaged for the costume design, especially the skirt is waved twice. The first time is for the natural extent. The second time is for the rim's design with natural flexibility.
< PROCESS >
Main focuses are the face, the hands, and the skirt. Since the illustration is drawn in comic book style, the skirt's rim is emphasized by the waving and the shape. Because a mass of details make the skirt's rim loom its shape clearly like outlines.
5 <LADY WITH AN UMBRELLA>
To focus on the face, the hair and the cardigan are to be detailed. With the emphasis, the brightness around the face is darkened. Since the female face is white color, the darkened area adds a contrast with the face to impress the facial expression. And the dark grip is a connection to the umbrella which is drawn with another texture of comic tool's dots to give thanks to the stocked selection on the drawing software.

Since the illustration was my very first work with Adobe Fresco, I tried to depict pictures enthusiastically, checking the excellence of the tools. So the costume becomes detailed naturally, and I liked it. With keeping the meticulousness, the drawing has continued for one week.
